What is Belly Dance?

Belly dancing is one of the oldest forms of dance with its roots digging deep into the cultures of the Middle East, Asia, Africa and India. This dance style focuses on the natural female body structure allowing women to embrace their femininity. Historically, belly dancing provided and today still provides women with an outlet to challenge the social norms of femininity. The movements are often done by isolating specific parts of the body and moving them in a way that is independent and sensuous bringing them all together to encompass the feminine form in its entirety. Not only does this dance challenge the social norms of the ideal female form through a connection of the mind, body and spirit, but it also has many health benefits as well. Over time we will continue to discuss these numerous health benefits and we will also discuss the stereotypes and stigmas surrounding belly dance as a whole. Our goal here at Majestic Woman is to empower you, to challenge you, and to guide you into becoming the best version of yourself in all your feminine glory.
